Carry-on Baggage

Passengers can have 1 carry-on baggage of a maximum of 10kg weight. And the maximum allowed dimension of the bag is 55*40*24cm.
Airlines also allows taking along a small personal item such as Handbag, Laptop Bag, Camera Bag, etc.

Checked Baggage

The airline allows combined dimensions of checked baggage up to 158cm. Passengers who will travel in Europe only can purchase the below-mentioned baggage sizes.

  • Small, It allows one baggage of 15kg.
  • The medium allows one baggage of 20kg.
  • Large provides space to carry one 25kg baggage.
  • Extra Large allows passengers to carry along two bags, But the combined weight of baggage should not exceed more than 40kg.

Aer Lingus Pet Policy

Aer Lingus Reservations welcomes pets along with the passenger, But pets can only be checked as cargo. You will have to intimate the Airlines beforehand If you wish to take along your pet.  Passengers can contact the customer service team for making arrangements for their pets. The customer service staff will provide you with all the information regarding pet policies, Charges and the restricted breeds of pets.

  • The weight allowance of pets is a maximum of 64kg, Exceeding this, Do not qualify to travel.
  • Airlines charges a fee of 40 EUR per pet for their regional flights and 160 EUR per pet for long-distance flights.
  • Pets should be at least 10 weeks old to qualify for traveling with airlines.

Aer Lingus Cancellation Policy

Passengers who booked directly through Aer Lingus can get their tickets canceled easily by filling up a short refund request form. According to Aer Lingus Cancellation Policy, The refund process will be a maximum of 7 days and you will also be notified through email.

  • If the passenger cancels the ticket within 24 hours of booking and the booking is of at least 7 days ahead, Then he/she will get a full amount refund by filling up the refund request form.
  • Airlines do not entertain any cancellation request if the flight departure time is less than 2 hours.

For those passengers who booked tickets via a third-party like Travel Agency or Travel Agent, Will have to contact the concerned person of the third party only. The third-party will guide them with assistance in canceling the ticket.

Aer Lingus Unaccompanied Minors Policy

Children traveling without an adult guardian are not provided with special assistance by Aer Lingus

Air Lingus’ policy on unaccompanied minors is as follows:

  • It is mandatory for children under the age of 12 to be accompanied by an adult passenger who is at least 16 years old.
  • Unaccompanied minors between 12-15 years (inclusive) can travel alone with a Form of Indemnity, but will not receive special assistance. 

Highlights of major policies

The following conditions apply to unaccompanied minor children between the ages of 12 and 15 on Aer Lingus flights:

  • Passengers who are under the age of 18 must travel as adults.
  • At the airport, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who must present a valid ID, such as a passport or driver’s license, at the check-in counter.
  • Self-service check-in kiosks and online check-in are not available to unaccompanied minors.
  • Each flight on the itinerary must have a Form of Indemnity filled out by the parent/adult guardian at the airport of departure, and the child must keep a copy at all times. You can also use the form for a return flight. 
  • A minor’s itinerary that includes connecting flights will be subject to the rules of the airline concerned.
  • The following flights do not accept unaccompanied minors:
    • If they are under 14 years old, British Airways/JetBlue will offer connecting flights. 
    • Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on United Airlines connecting flights.
  • Minors who are unaccompanied must make their own way to their connecting flights.

Guidelines for each country 

  • The Portuguese 
  • Portugal may refuse entry to unaccompanied minors under 18 without an accompanying adult.
  • Unaccompanied minors under 18 traveling out of Portugal may not be allowed to travel if their parents or guardians do not provide a notarized authority letter. 
  • A notarized authority letter from the other parent who is staying behind is required for under-18 unaccompanied minors traveling out of Portugal with just one parent. It is also acceptable to submit a stamped letter from the local police station.
  • The French
  • A French police stamped letter is also required for minors under 18 traveling out of France on a French national ID card. The letter isn’t needed if they’re traveling on their own passport.
  • The Spanish language 
  • Unaccompanied minors traveling out of Spain must carry a valid travel document. If traveling with an ID card instead of a passport, they must have:
    • A written and signed permission from either or both parents having the child’s custody—certified in court, civil guard station, notary, civil hall, or a police station—after presenting the birth certificate or family book.
  • Unaccompanied minors traveling from an EU country to Spain with only an ID card instead of a passport must also carry written parental permission.
  • Italy 
  • Under-14 minors traveling out of Italy will not be accepted.
  • Under-14 minors holding an Italian nationality traveling from or to Italy who are accompanied by an above-18 adult (not the parent or legal guardian) must carry a Law No. 1185/67 (Dichiarazione di affido) declaration with their passport, which can be obtained from a local police station (Questura). This must be carried in addition to Aer Lingus’ requirement for a Form of Indemnity for children between 14-16 years who are traveling unaccompanied.

Aer Lingus policy about flying when pregnant

The policy for Aer Lingus about flying when pregnant does depend on which route you are taking. If you’re flying between the UK and Ireland, at 32 weeks you can fly with written permission from your doctor. If you wish to fly between weeks 32 and 35 then you will need to bring one of the Aer Lingus Expectant Mother Forms.

On other routes, you need to have written permission to week 28 from your doctor or midwife. Then between weeks 28 to 33 you’ll need to bring the Aer Lingus Expectant Mother Form and from week 34 you cannot fly any longer with Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus Pet Policy

Aer Lingus welcomes pet(s) onboard but only on selected routes. Therefore, the passenger must inquire about pet travel well in advance. It is of prime importance to be aware of the airlines’ specific pet policies to understand the requirements and prepare for a safe and comfortable journey for your pet(s).

Pet Criteria

Aer Lingus only accepts cats and dogs as pet passengers.

In-cabin

At present, Aer Lingus does not allow pets to travel in the cabin of the aircraft.

Checked Baggage

Pets are allowed to travel on Aer Lingus flights as checked baggage. However, they must not be less than 10 weeks in age. The pet must remain inside a carrier throughout the flight’s duration. The combined weight of the pet and the carrier must not exceed 141 lbs.

In-cargo

Large pets that must travel unaccompanied are transported via the airline’s cargo service. The weight of the pet and the carrier combined must be within 141 lbs.

Emotional Support/Service Animal

Aer Lingus allows passengers with disability to bring assistance dog in the cabin of the aircraft at no additional cost. On each transatlantic flight of the airline, a maximum of eight assistance dogs are permitted onboard. Proper quarantine and government regulations must be followed in order to acquire permission for an assistance dog to travel.
